Join the Broadview Parents' Council!!

Hi Kinder parents,

School council is reaching out to you to make sure that you're being included in all of the great volunteer opportunities at our school - after all, you are our 'next gen' of parents!  Please take a couple of minutes to look through the form below to learn more about volunteer opportunities at our school.  Hopefully you will feel inspired to fill it out and to participate in some of the school-wide council activities!

Thanks,

Broadview School Council request for Volunteers

Broadview has a strong, vibrant school community, thanks in part to the amazing contribution of parents throughout the school year. There are dozens of volunteer opportunities to suit all interests, talents and schedules, both during and outside of regular school hours. Opportunities range from larger multi-day events like the Book Bonanza in early May, shorter half-day events such as the bike rodeo in the spring, to occasional small jobs, like helping out with the school photo days in the fall. Below, you can find a link to the Broadview School Council volunteer form, which includes a list and descriptions of all kinds of volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. The volunteer coordinator will put you in touch with school staff or other parents who are organizing and running the various activities. Please don’t hesitate to contact the volunteer coordinator (volunteer@broadviewparents.org) if you have any questions! If you are interested in volunteering in your child’s classroom (including field trips), please contact your child’s teacher directly.
We are always happy to welcome new volunteers to help out on school council. Please contact our school council chair directly at broadviewpschair@gmail.com or tick the school council box below to get in touch with us and find out where help is needed. A list and descriptions of the positions can be found on the school council website: www.broadviewparents.org.
Thanks and here’s looking forward to another great school year!

Water Bottles and Spare Clothes

Please make sure your child has a water bottle each day, filled with water. It helps them to be independent and makes the day go much more smoothly. Also, please send in an updated baggie of spare clothes for your child. We will send home the old ones. Some still have shorts and t-shirts in them, so it's time. Many thanks.

Labels

Yesterday we read a book called Carlo Likes Reading  and in the illustrations everything had a label, even the cat. The class thought this was very funny, and we decided to label our classroom. Instead of accurate labels, though, the children ended up putting up different words, which they found hilarious. We now have a wall named Bob, a table named elephant and a lunch cart with three names. They also like to label their teachers and guests. We are glad they are enjoying printing and writing words. Maybe they can label your house too!

Class Telephone Book

We are putting together a class phone book so that you can arrange play dates, birthday parties, share babysitting, etc. There are many children in the class who have a 2 year old sibling and a baby, so you will be a school community for a while. It's great for the children to strengthen their school friendships with some outside play dates. If you would like to add your name, phone number, email and child's name to our book, please email me with your permission. We have most of the class, but a few had to miss the party where we gathered information. I will NOT publish the book online, just print it out and give you a hard copy. Please let me know asap at sarah.whitehead@ocdsb.ca so we can get the book together for you. Thank you!

Post Party Post

Thank you again to everyone who brought treats in to the party to share. In the minds of the children, it's not a party unless there is food! We have a few containers left here which we would like to return. There are some glass dishes with lids and some rubbermaid containers. Please let us know if they belong to you and we will send them home. Thank you!!

End of Day Dismissal

There are some repairs being done to the school which block the exit door where we usually dismiss the walkers. Please meet us at the Front Door of the school at 3:30 today. We will let you know if this continues. Thanks!
